Marine Wildlife Inspired Jewelry

I was doing some online browsing last night (mainly because my sister asked me to find some stuff for her guinea pigs) and somehow, from Etsy, I moved onto eBay and somehow or other, I ended up on reeds.com/designer-jewelry/Guy-Harvey-cat1041.html!

I know, right? It's almost Christmas and retailers are pushing ads under our fingers like moms pushing veggies into their kids' mouths. I'm not much of a jewelery gal myself (I only wear my wedding and engagement rings and a thin necklace with a diamond pendant that my late dad bought for my 17th birthday) but I do appreciate looking at pretty things.

This new jewelry designer Guy Harvey works mainly with precious metals and gemstones and his designs are inspired by his family and his love for the sea. Don't you just love it when you see someone's passion exude from his designs? Not only does he manage to capture the beautiful wildlife in their habitat ONTO his designs, percentage of Guy Harvey Jewelry sales will be donated to The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the conservation of our oceans and nurtures the next generation of marine scientists and guardians of our seas.

If you know anyone obsessed with marine wildlife, this may be the perfect Christmas gift for them! :)

Christmas Decoration Idea

Although I don't celebrate Christmas, I do love looking at Christmas decorations. There's just something about lights and Christmas colours that just remind me of a time when I used to celebrate Christmas at my late grandma's and my late uncle Joshua's. My late uncle Joshua was amazing with Christmas decorations. There are like 4 huge trees in his house with different themes! And since the family is pretty extended, there are mountains of Christmas presents under each tree which makes it even more exciting to look at.

Wow, I haven't gone back to Kuching to celebrate Christmas with my uncles and aunts and cousins there in a veeery long time. Yet whenever I see Christmas decorations, they are never far from my mind.

Anyways, if you're bored of your annual Christmas decorations, or having a theme for your Christmas tree and don't know what to do with the rest of the ornaments, probably you can show them off this way!

You don't need even need glue. You just need to find a shadow box or deep frame for this! I know that the RIBBA frame from IKEA is extra deep. It has a 4.5cm depth. If your ornaments don't fit in, any other Christmas decoration will do. Perhaps you want to put in a wreath instead? Or fill it up with candy cane? The options are ENDLESS! And there's nothing like a DIY project that will impress your guests when they come over!

Thanks to 52 Mantels for this wonderful idea! Check out how her nursery turned up!

So easy and so beautiful! Try it yourself!

Christmas Song Medley - Hanson

It's time to get into the Christmas spirit people!! My mom's side of the family are non-Muslim, so as far back as I can remember, we've been celebrating Christmas every year with them. Even after my late grandma passed away, we still try and fix Christmas dinner (turkey and all) every year in her remembrance.

This year, my children are back in my hometown, so I'm free and I don't have anyone to share this holiday with, so don't be surprised if I crash your party, mkay??

Anyways, back to the point at hand, I've got my blizzard set up here on my blog, and what's missing is the Christmas songs!! So for this Music Monday, I chose a Christmas number by Hanson from their album Snowed In.

Before there was any Jonas Brothers, there was the Hanson brothers. Although they just go by "Hanson". I was a fangirl. Yeah. I'm not ashamed to admit it, and I did buy their Snowed In Christmas album when it came out! LOL!

This Christmas Song medley comprises of "O Holy Night, Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful".. The youngest brother Zac at the time still hadn't reached puberty yet and managed to pull off the high notes.. He was what then? 10 or 11 years old?? So cute..

If you're wondering what happened to him, Zac Hanson just celebrated the birth of his second child, Junia Rose Ruth, just recently -- 15th December 2010! Time sure does fly, doesn't it?? Now they're all so grown up and still good looking.

Ohhh la laaa Taylor! Hahahaha yeah, he's married.. so am I. Marriage doesn't make you blind, you know! Hahaha. Boy, I'm such a fangirl!

Anyways, take a listen.. I promise you, it's really pretty good!

Remember, take a cue from Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson.. nothing says holiday cheer like BAD Christmas sweaters!! LOL!

Happy Holidays, everyone!!

Time For Christmas Shopping

In the month of December, it's not only Christmas we've got to think about. It's the holiday season... and guess what? A lot of people get married during the holidays. In fact, I have a couple of weddings to attend this coming December.

The good thing about it is, you can take advantage of the Christmas sale and get good bargains for wedding gifts. However, the other side of it is, you have to shop for wedding gifts and Christmas gifts as well.

I don't know about you guys, but buying presents for everyone all at once feels a little bit stressful at the end of the day because you see your cash depleting with good measure. So to rid you of your possible future financial anxiety attack, it's time to start planning what to get for your loved ones now.

I saw some Egyptian Cotton Luxury sheets for sale at LuxorLinen.com the other day and I believe it's the perfect gift for both weddings and Christmas. You can't go wrong with bed linens and you can even have it personalized by having initials monogrammed. The Valentino 1200 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton sheets comes in so many shades (pic above), I wouldn't know which one to pick if I were to get one. Big IF.

I know my mom would love some new bed linens. Remember the time when my mom's bed arrived from KL and we couldn't find super-king sized sheets in KK? Most of the brands just carry up to king size but luxury linens always cater for bigger sized beds.

It may be expensive, but the Black Friday deals are giving discounts between 50%-80%! Awesome price. International shipping may cost a lot though. I wish I can afford it soon because mommy deserves the best.. and it will look sooooooo good on her Thomasville bed..

But that means I have to get one for my sister too. She inherited our old four poster Thomasville bed and it's super king too. -_-"

Deck The Halls..

Wow.. It's already 24th November 2010. Tomorrow is already Thanksgiving Day, which means, Christmas will be on your doorsteps in 1 month's time! By now, I'm sure most of you have gone through the boxes in the attics or in the store or garage for your Christmas decorations. I'm living in an apartment, so there won't be any outdoor decorations by my neighbours for me to marvel at.

By the way, every time I think of outdoor Christmas decorations, I'm reminded of Chevy Chase who plays Clark Griswold in National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. LOL!

Then the next thing that happens...

Photobucket

And in one scene, grandma goes, "Clark, your house is on fire!!" LOL! Oh, I looooove that movie!

Anyways, I also love going around malls during Christmas time to check out the decorations. It's always fun to see what the organizers can come up with! This was from 2008's Christmas at Sunway Pyramid (if I'm not mistaken).

So, how would you be decorating for Christmas this year? Doing outdoor and indoors? Have a colour theme going on? Or are you the no plan throw-it-all-on-as-you-go kinda person? Do share!
