Christmas Decoration Idea

Although I don't celebrate Christmas, I do love looking at Christmas decorations. There's just something about lights and Christmas colours that just remind me of a time when I used to celebrate Christmas at my late grandma's and my late uncle Joshua's. My late uncle Joshua was amazing with Christmas decorations. There are like 4 huge trees in his house with different themes! And since the family is pretty extended, there are mountains of Christmas presents under each tree which makes it even more exciting to look at.

Wow, I haven't gone back to Kuching to celebrate Christmas with my uncles and aunts and cousins there in a veeery long time. Yet whenever I see Christmas decorations, they are never far from my mind.

Anyways, if you're bored of your annual Christmas decorations, or having a theme for your Christmas tree and don't know what to do with the rest of the ornaments, probably you can show them off this way!

You don't need even need glue. You just need to find a shadow box or deep frame for this! I know that the RIBBA frame from IKEA is extra deep. It has a 4.5cm depth. If your ornaments don't fit in, any other Christmas decoration will do. Perhaps you want to put in a wreath instead? Or fill it up with candy cane? The options are ENDLESS! And there's nothing like a DIY project that will impress your guests when they come over!

Thanks to 52 Mantels for this wonderful idea! Check out how her nursery turned up!

So easy and so beautiful! Try it yourself!

Time to Artzooka!

My children have been really honing their creativity skills lately and it's all thanks to the tv show Artzooka.

Yesterday, the children created Spongebob Squarepants using a box and yellow paper. I've got to admit it looked really good and I was really impressed with it (although less impressed with the huge mess they made with the paint). I don't normally allow my 3 and 1/2 year old daughter to use the scissors (even the baby kind) and that just gets her upset because she thinks I'm not being fair and that I'm showing favoritism.*rolls eyes*

So, fine. I gave her a pair of scissors which she happily took and she decided that the best "scrap material" was on her head. SNIP SNIP goes her curly hair and before I know it, some of her curls have ended up on the floor. Luckily it didn't look too bad and since her hair is curly, you can't see much difference. *sigh*

Anyways, tomorrow my son plans to make a mosaic and so I "googled" some simple patterns to do until I found this amazing mural, The Legend of the Fire by Harold Freedman which can be found in Melbourne, Australia. Apparently, the Harold Freedman mural took approximately one and a half years to assemble and is comprised of over one million glass mosaic tiles.

Gorgeous, isn't it??

Oh well, don't expect us to make anything THAT intricate, though.. I'll probably just go with a basic shape.. an apple perhaps?? LOL!!

Baby Shower Invites!

Recently, a long lost friend contacted me through my Facebook and I was soooo happy that we finally "found" each other. I've always been wondering where she was and what she's up to. We exchanged numbers and finally caught up with each others' lives.

She has married and given birth and I'm sooo happy for her. Too bad we didn't find each other sooner because she really wanted me to help her with her baby shower invitations.

I have no idea why she wanted me.. because I know so many other friends of ours who are more creative but she said that she remembered that I once made a really awesome handmade card for my THEN bf.. and she loved it a lot.

Well, for future handmade invites though, I'd definitely recommend my girlfriend Debbie, from Crafty Heart, 'coz she's so awesome at handmade cards and I believe that she takes orders too. So check her out if you've got the time!

Butterfingers.. NOT The Yummy Kind

While I was flipping through my Hari Raya pics to post on my blog, I found this old scrapbook piece that I did of me and Allie, using our 2008 Hari Raya pics.

I find digital scrapbooking much easier because you can just delete and move stuff around and start all over if you get it all wrong. Real life scrapbooking is more tedious and you really need to have buckets and buckets of creative juice in you to create an outstanding piece. And THAT I don't have.

Besides, I can be so clumsy sometimes that I can't even handle scissors right.. I definitely can use a pair of safety glasses for doing simple paper cutting. So for now, I'll just stick to digital scrapbooking.

But for those of you who need any scrapbooking supplies, feel free to check out Crafty Heart! Oh and I heard that there's a Crafty Heart Giveaway going on now too! Awesome kits to be won!! :)

You've Got Mail!

I looove receiving surprise mail and packages! I mean, who doesn't right? I'm sure everyone loves receiving mail besides those dreaded bills. Sometime last month, all I was expecting was a mail from my insurance company sending over the new life insurance rates, (which I haven't looked over by the way.. but they assured me it was lower and more affordable).. Anyways, to my surprise, I also received a package from Debbie a.k.a Phatelara!!

In it, I received a keychain as a consolation prize from her giveaway, and she also made me a belated birthday card which I simple adore!!

Thanks Debbs, LOVES YA!!!

Wasted!!*

Never before have I seen people rejecting freebies. Until this week.

I had managed to score 2 3-day passes to the Rainforest World Music Festival that was going on from 10th of July - 12th July 2009 at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Kuching, Sarawak.

I couldn't go and I've been trying to give away these tickets but apparently no one wanted them. So sad, really. Such a waste. A waste worth RM540, no less.

It was really awesome to be able to win these tickets, though. Thanks mix.fm!! I love you guys!!

Don't Be Fooled By What You See

I'm so excited for my upcoming family portraiture session at the end of the month but I am soooooooo stressing about my weight. You've got an amazing photographer, then you've got the adorable children (don't you go rolling your your eyes at me! hahahaha.. I'm their mom, what do you expect??) then you've got the venue.. but at the same time, you're looking like a beached whale!!!!

Yeah yeah. I know what you're going to say. Save it! These pictures below are proof that things aren't always what they seem to be..

-pics taken from Julian Beever

But seriously, I need to shed some extra pounds so I can look good in my family photos. I don't NEED to be skinny winny, I just want to look nice in my clothes. If only exercise doesn't hurt so bad, I wouldn't even be thinking of appetite suppressant pills!!

Bleerggghhh.. No pain, no gain, right? I guess I better get moving soon.. I only have 2 and a half weeks!! Oh noooooooo!!!!

My Prize Has Arrived!*

Remember Debbie's contest that I won earlier this month?? Well, I received my prizes already!!! menari Well, actually I already received them the day after Debbie sent them but since I sent it to my MIL's house, it took a while for me to get it.

Thing is, my husband already picked it up for me the Sunday before last, and only gave it to me last Friday! And all this time, he had it in his work bag and forgot all about it! ketukmeje Luckily it's his birthday today so I won't go all crazy on his little faults!

Anyways, I wanted to create something for him but it looks so precious and beautiful that I don't have the heart to use it. I did go to One Utama to get the craft papers and stuff but the store drove us crazy! There were sooo many cool stuff but I suggest that we leave the store ASAP before we made permanent damage in our bank accounts! ihikhik

Maybe I'll just make a digital scrapbook page instead. Hahahaha.. I'll wait until we're done with our family portraiture session next month, then I'll do a real nice crafty scrap. So thanks again Debbs for the beautiful prizes! I absolutely love the special add ons you gave! love
