Waterfall Braids

I love waterfall braids. It's simple and easy and pretty. You can check out how to do the waterfall braid here.

I have done it for Allie numerous times and initially didn't want to stress myself out trying it on my own hair. But since I get bored with my hairstyle more often than John Mayer does of his girlfriends, I decided to try it out. I don't know why it comes as a surprise that I nailed it on my first try. After all, I do my own inverted and outward french braid as well as a fishtail braid, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that a waterfall braid is even simpler to do than the rest. I took a picture of my hair on the husband's Blackberry, but I had problems trying to transfer it via bluetooth to my laptop. -_-"

Besides the waterfall braid, I have also tried the Gibson tuck (which is hard to do now that my hair is too long), as well as the Sock bun and all kinds of side chignons. I love doing the non heat curls too, now that my hair is straight again using socks (clean ones of course). I guess I just have too much time on my hands. And I seriously get bored of my hairstyles really fast. I'll even cut it myself if I have to. I really find it hard to understand how people can have the same hairstyle for years and years and years and years and not get bored. That's some serious comfort zone issues right there.

Search For The Perfect Prom Dress

The last time I thought about prom dresses, was probably over a decade ago. I didn't even go to my high school prom because my bf at that time was a super jealous paranoid freak. Hahaha.. he admitted it himself, so don't think I'm calling him names! Hahaha oh bless his heart! "Puppy love", what do you expect? :D

Anyways, my younger sister who will be graduating from high school at the end of the year is now in search of the "perfect prom dress". I told her to concentrate on her final exams FIRST and think of her dress LATER.. so in the end, she told ME to keep a lookout for a dress for her instead.

She wants to go with a long dress.. and I'm not so lovin' the idea, but she insists.. so.. what the princess wants, the princess gets. *rolls eyes* :P Her criteria also includes anything but a black dress.

Suddenly, the vision of Elie Saab's Spring 2011 RTW collection came to mind. I absolutely ADORE this collection of his and I can't help but drool over his creations. The ready-to-wear collection colour palette consisted of a lot of pea green, coral, nude, slate grey and a beautiful abstract pastel print. Floaty gowns and chiffon tunics with lots of gold heavy jewelery were the main attraction of the runway presentation.

I am head over heels in love with this collection!!Since my focus was on prom dresses, only the evening gowns from the collection are shown above. Look here for the complete Elie Saab Spring 2011 RTW collection.

The cocktail dresses are equally divine! The cocktail dress that was one of my faves in this collection was recently donned by Leighton Meester at the recent 14th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala. So far Leighton is the first celebrity to be wearing the Elie Saab Spring 2011 RTW collection.

Leighton chose to wear the outfit together with the suede peep-toe platform shoes from the same collection but opted for a silver Jimmy Choo Candy acrylic clutch instead. Gorgeous!

Hahaha anyways, NOW I have to go back to checking out the cheaper and more affordable prom dresses and put this collection out of my mind. I hope my sister doesn't read my blog or else she'll be setting even higher standards! Out of sight, out of mind!

Well, wish me luck with the prom dress search! If you have any ideas on where to find any gorgeous AND affordable ones, do let me know! ;)

I'm A Cross Dresser!

Cross-dressing is the wearing of clothing and other accoutrement commonly associated with a gender within a particular society that is seen as different than the one usually presented by the dresser. The term cross-dressing denotes an action or a behavior without attributing or proposing causes for that behavior. Some people automatically connect cross-dressing behavior to transgender identity or sexual, fetishist, and homosexual behavior, but the term cross-dressing itself does not imply any motives. (Wikipedia)

I love wearing my husband's clothes. Not his pants of course, because they're way too big and even if they could fit me they're just so not my style. But I love wearing his shirts and sports shirts when I'm at home or just going out for grocery shopping. For me, it's super comfy and I like having my husband's smell near me. :)

My children though, always point it out and exclaim, "Mommyyy.. why are you wearing Daddy's shirt???" Or they'll just refer to me as "Daddy" when I do wear his clothes.

So how many of you ladies like to wear your men's clothing as well? No need to raise your hands.. but I'm sure a majority of you ladies love to do that too, huh? Where do you think the trend (in 2008) for boyfriend jeans came about ? Although Katie Holmes DID literally wear Tom Cruise's jeans.

Dream Of Being A Celebrity Stylist?

I'm sure by now, most of you know how much I enjoy creating sets for Polyvore, right? For those of you who don't know what Polyvore is, well, it's just a site that allows you to channel your creativity into creating artwork, interior design or fashion sets using the items provided for you. All you have to do is start from a blank canvas, then start creating!

Personally, creating artwork, is not my strong suit. I'm more interested in creating fashion sets, which I've shown here in my previous posts a couple of times before. Most of the time, I'm inspired by celebrity fashion and try to re-create a set as close to it as possible!

Here are a couple of examples that I've made:

The Roommate

Most of the time, I enjoy choosing my favorite celebrities as muses and pick and choose from the array of gorgeous clothes what I think my favorite celebrity would wear. Basically, it's playing stylist to your favorite celebrity. After all, there are many celeb styles that we're just iffy about and should be fined by the fashion police.

From designer goods at Net-A-Porter to affordable Forever21, there are so many brands and stores to choose from when creating your fashion set. So if being a celebrity fashion stylist has been your dream since you were a little girl watching Cyndi Lauper's crazy getup in the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" music video, then you should try your hand at this.

Besides, the community at Polyvore are very supportive and they're very friendly which makes it all even more fun. If you're insecure about your fashion style, getting feedback from other members might even make you even more confident. Not to mention joining contests held by members! You might even win a few.. I never thought I'd win a place in fashion contests, but I did! It's one of my favorite hobbies right now but the only downside is: you get addicted!

Snobbitchery Gets You Nowhere

Always Something New

It's been a while since we went shopping in KLCC.. I hardly ever go there but since my mother wanted to go (when she was here 2 weeks ago), we braved through the crowd and made it there. So anyways, my mother wanted to go to Marc Jacobs to check out some handbags and the "retail assistant" a.k.a. salesgirl was just sooooo freakin' snobbish!!

Before my mother was done looking at the bags on display, she was already rearranging them back properly. And when my mom was asking something about the bags, she was giving my mom attitude and was very condescending, as if to say, "Obviously you know nothing about Marc Jacobs bags".

So we left because my mom hates hoity toity stores and Syura decided to go back inside and give her a talk-down. Yeah, she was so embarassed and stunned that she was being called out for her behavior that she looked as if she had speech anxiety or something!! Serves her right!!

I've gotta say that out of all the stores, I think the retail assistants at Jimmy Choo are the bestest!!

Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue??

My cousin is getting married sometime in September menari , and I absolutely have nothing to wear to the wedding! garupale I haven't even asked my aunt yet what color theme they're using for the reception. I don't know whether I should match the bridal party or not but it would be useful to know.

Since the wedding is going to be around Hari Raya Aidilfitri (on the 4th day), I think we'll be donning traditional wear.. but there might be a night reception where my cousin, the groom, will be changing into his tuxedo shirt..

So.. what to wear?? What to wear??? fikir

Hmmm.. I think I should really focus on getting into shape first, though.. ihikhik

A New Hobby*

Okay, so maybe I don't have a new hobby, but I'm really new to this and I've only done a few so you can definitely consider me a newbie! malu

And by "this", I mean Polyvore!! It's weird that I've taken up "polyvore-ing" since I truly believe that I don't have the talent or the mind for anything "creative". garupale

My sister, Syura, is the one with all the creativity. Despite the fact that I'm the one in the family that's left-handed. And you guys know what they say about lefties, right? angkatkening You don't? Well, that's what Google is for.

So as I was saying, I'm really having fun with this polyvore, which is actually a site that allows you to create layouts - for fashion or for interior designs. You can check out Syura's blog and on her sidebar, you'll be able to see all her creations. She's been asking me to try it out myself since forever, but as usual, my procrastinator self only took to her advice this year some 2 months ago. ihikhik

But yeah, I believe I am finally harnessing the "leftie creativity" in me. And THAT is absolute COOLNESS! encem

My first creation:

My fave so far:

p/s: If you're on Polyvore, go ahead and add me up!

Bedazzled!

I was watching this show, Stripped on E! the other day and they were showcasing this jeweler that was making a great business making awesome fashion jewelery pieces that were just the rave among celebrities. I for one don't use much "costume jewelery". The only jewelery I wear is my necklace with a small flower diamond pendant that my late father gave to me on my 17th birthday and my wedding ring. That's it.

But after seeing what these jewelers come up with, I think I'd love to own some pieces as well. Some jewelers like Holsted Jewelers, make fabolous designs for such cheap prices as well. You can get rings like the ones here, for less than $50!

Yeah, they're only cubic zirconias and not real diamonds, but they're really pretty and dazzling!

So if you're looking for a gift or you want to indulge yourself in jewelery but can't quite afford the Harry Winston or Neil Lane, then you might want to check these jewelers out!

Time to Shop!

I'm supposed to go shopping today.. shopping for something new to wear for my birthday. Well, even if it wasn't my birthday, I would still want to go shopping. I need to revamp my wardrobe.. BADLY.

I already have something in mind, thanks to my sister, Syura.. I love her Polyvore creations.. and it's easier for me to decide on what look I want to go for!

HOWEVER, I still haven't lose the weight that I was aiming for and at this point, I don't think that even the best diet pills will be able to make me lose a couple more pounds by the time my birthday arrives!

So anyways, wish me luck! I can't wait for my retail therapy!!
