Guitar Heroes

My guitar playing knowledge is limited to the lead guitar of Guns and Roses's Patience and a couple of other songs but that's about it. I used to like playing guitar until I realized it would harden the pads of my fingers and I used to think that was probably the most unsexy thing for a girl.

Anyways, I know my niece would be into playing the guitar since both her mommy and daddy play guitar really well.

Even my 7 month old son is pretty much starting to love the guitar as well, because he just loves strumming it or loves listening to it being played. Perhaps I should send him and my niece for lessons as soon as he can walk and they'll be the next child prodigies? Ha!! I'm not that overzealous type of parent, though.

Even if baby Z and baby Naeema are in fact going to be good at guitar, it's gonna be ages before I have to buy them those excellent rocktron pedals at guitar center. Maybe I'll wait until they start a band or something.

Blow Me One Last Kiss

Because my laptop is totally broken down at the moment, I don't have the chance to submit my Music Monday selections -- which is actually my favorite meme of the week. :) Since I didn't get to post any videos last week, heck, I'll just post it on a Friday! Yay! TGIF, people! :)

And as most of you know, I'll be leaving for my hometown this Sunday! :) Blow Me One Last Kiss before I go!! :)

So maybe the song lyrics are about a breakup, but hey, I love Pink! :) She's awesome. Hope you guys enjoy this one! :)

Don't Be Sad, Chong Wei!

When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When you're down and out,
When you're on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silver boy,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
Im sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

Buffalo Soldier

I hardly go online nowadays and when I do, my kids go crazy over YouTube videos. Among the things that my son searched for was Buffalo Soldier by Bob Marley. Apparently, it's my son's favorite song at the moment. So since I missed the Music Monday segment this week, here's a great song to celebrate your chillaxing weekend! Enjoy!

Use Your Illusion

I was browsing Polyvore just now and I saw this set that featured a gorgeous Gibson guitar and I can't help but have a flashback to the days where my brother was teaching me how to play the solo for Patience by Guns 'n' Roses on his guitar. He will point out every Les Paul Gibson guitars that Slash used during the Use Your Illusion (I and II) tour videos.

My brother was obsessed with it and he was determined to buy his very own Gibson Les Paul. He still hasn't owned one.. because I guess he can't imagine spending so much on a guitar, maybe? I'm not sure. I'll ask him why he hasn't bought one.

Anyways, when I saw this Gibson guitar on Polyvore, I'm feeling inspired to do a Use Your Illusion set. Pretty cool, huh?

For The Love of Arts

As a newly appointed member of my son's school's PTA, I have an idea to upgrade the music class because apparently, even with the revamped education system now that's supposed to concentrate on the "arts" and not only on the "academic" side, the arts division at my son's school is still lacking in a lot of aspects.

I brought this up at the PTA meeting and the headmistress said the school is affiliated with One Music Academy so we can send our kids to music lessons instead because the school doesn't have a professional music teacher to teach the kids. Not every parent can afford to send their kids to extra music lessons at a music academy okay.. So parents at the lower income range are at a disadvantage, because even though Music is a subject at school, it's not being conducted like it should. It's really disappointing.

I really want to do something about this. My son is not really academically inclined.. he's more interested in music, art, and drama. So for the time being, he spends his holidays learning how to play the guitar with my older brother.

We don't need an electric guitar in the music class, but at least the basic recorders, melodians, xylophones, cymbals, and other percussion instruments. I remember when I was in school we used to have the best time in Music class, playing with all these.

Well, I've got to really get some proposals going before the next PTA meeting. I hope the rest of the committee agree in upgrading our arts division. Wish me luck!

Music Video: Baru - Estranged

As you can see from the lack of posts here on my blog, I have hardly been online lately.. But when I finally got around to going online, I was thrilled to know that the music video for Estranged's latest single, Baru, is already out. I really couldn't wait to see the outcome of the video since Bella and I "busy-bodied" ourselves behind the scenes of the 2nd day of the video shoot.

The song has cool written all over it and I dig it. A lot. There just aren't many local bands as good as Estranged. So check out the music video for Baru by Estranged:

I gotta say though, I would be a helluva lot less calm than that if my bag was snatched. Just sayin'.

The music video was directed by Nadia Hamzah from Wayang Works.

Nadia Hamzah

She's young and amazing. As is Mo. Adam Sinclair was also on hand to assist the directing of the music video. Director of Photography was done by Wan Chun Hung, who, if you must know, was DOP for the film Seru. The lead stars in the music video is Omar Yunus, a newcomer and actress Tunku Norhanis.
Tunku Norhanis and Omar Yunus on set

Hanafi, Din, Rich and Andy were all awesome guys and my deepest thanks to the band for indulging us and our  inane conversations and questions. Especially crazy ones like me asking Andy for his Foo Fighters tee (as seen in video). Yes, I am not ashamed to take a shirt off of someone else's back. But of course Andy didn't give it to me. I wouldn't give it to me. You know, if I were him. But, it was worth a shot.  Haha. My mom always says, "Ask and you shall be given". It didn't work this time, but hey.. can't blame me for trying.

Estranged getting ready to rock it out on Carrefour rooftop
ANYWAYS, I had a lot of fun with Bella on that set thanks to the crew. We were fed, we were plied with drinks the whole evening, we were entertained... at a rooftop no less and it was my first time being behind the scenes of any shoot. I had a pretty good time.

Yours truly and Bella with the band

Thanks Levis for the opportunity.. especially to Paolo and Carmen.

Also lots of thanks to Afiq and Azzad (the biker guy in the video) for being so hilarious and entertaining. Thanks to Fadhil and Teoh (who I call Steve, coz he looks like a Steve -- suka suki je tukar nama orang) for the pictures and videos taken on set.

Lots of fun. Hope to do it again. Hear that, Estranged? Call us. I'm dead serious, yo. Haha.

p/s: All photos taken by Bella Enveeus and check out more photos of what went down behind the scenes.

Adele - 21

Adele is one of the best singers these days in terms of voice and songs (lyrically and rhythmically). Born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, this singer-songwriter is someone I've always adored and have featured her quite a number of times on my favorite music meme, Music Monday.

I think the first time I heard Adele was in 2008 or 2009 with her song Chasing Pavements, from her album 19. I was practically ADDICTED to her songs and her voice! She also did a beautiful remake of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" which I think beats a lot of other versions out there.

In January 2011, Adele released her second album, in the UK and I just have to say, her CD is definitely worth buying!

This album shows a slightly different direction musically compared to her debut album. It still has the Motown and folk sound but also incorporates some country, pop and R&B into it as well. Her song "Someone Like You"  is probably the most played song on my iTunes since January. I loooove it so much although I could NOT exactly relate to "feeling heartbroken about an old flame marrying another". LOL!

However, that's what one should expect from the album 21. It's dubbed a break-up album, with the majority of the songs focusing on aspects of the singer's most recently ended relationship. Adele's first single from the album, "Rolling In The Deep" is rocketing it's way through the charts and blasting it's way through our radio airwaves! I'm definitely loving it! If you haven't checked out the music wonder that is Adele, check her out! ENJOY!

Uncharted - Sara Bareilles

Wow! It's Monday AGAIN already.. so I guess I don't have to tell you what time it is. You know full well it's Music Monday, time! :)

There were quite a number of songs that I wanted to feature here, today, but I finally found a song that I relate to best (according to my mood right now). As most of you all know, I have just turned 28 last Thursday and I will be venturing into something new as of June. I don't want to say what it is, in case I jinx it, so suffice to say that I hope this will be the beginning of more good things to come. ;) Although it is unfamiliar and considered uncharted territory, I have faith that all things will work out just fine.

So here's my song choice for this week, Uncharted by Sara Bareilles. Don't you just adore her? I also love seeing all the familiar faces in the video. Check it out and tell me how many can you name?

Did you manage to name all the appearances? Well here's everyone who made guest appearances in the Uncharted music video: Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, Josh Groban, Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D., Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Ben Folds, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Laura Jansen, Ingrid Michaelson, Vanessa Carlton, Tegan and Sara, Cary Brothers, Greg Laswell, Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller from Guster, and Keenan Cahill.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great week ahead of them! Wish me luck in all that I do. It's an important month next month and I'm a little scared and excited at the same time. But I keep reminding myself:

There is no telling how many miles you will have to run while chasing a dream. ~Author Unknown

I've got my running shoes on.. and I will chase my dream for as long as it takes! ;) Happy Music Monday, all!

Red Light - Jonny Lang

I know I know.. RED has been the color of choice here lately, but I was going through my iTunes recently, and I found this song that I love but haven't heard in a while. Jonny Lang's Red Light! I love this song because it has a deeper meaning than most songs that you hear on the radio today.. (READ: wake up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy??)..

Anyways, I'd like you to tell me.. what do you think of while sitting at a RED LIGHT? I don't drive, so I can think about lots of stuff.. like what to eat, or what movie to watch.. but for my husband, I can bet you he's thinking about "WHEN IS THE BLOODY LIGHT GOING TO CHANGE???!"

Hahaha.. Stop and smell the roses.. don't go speeding around life barely knowing where you're even headed to.. and don't ever run the red light..

Happy Music Monday, everyone! Hope you enjoy this one! :)

Come Home - One Republic feat. Sara Bareilles

Gosh, I haven't been participating in Music Monday as much as I hoped to. My 2 week holiday to my hometown is coming to an end and although my husband managed to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with us, he unfortunately couldn't stay longer and had to return to work.

I know he would never demand for me to come home because he knows the children and I don't get to spend enough time here with my mom and siblings here in my beautiful hometown of Kota Kinabalu.. yet, I know he misses us so much and he's longing for us to come home.

So here's a beautiful song, Come Home by One Republic ft Sara Bareilles that remind me of my husband. Will be back soon, darling! :) To all my blog readers, have fun and happy Music Monday!

p/s: This song was also featured at the end of Episode 1 of Vampire Diaries Season 2 which I thought was pretty awesome! Check out my entertainment blog, Reel Madhouse for the full track listing for each episode on season 2 of Vampire Diaries!

Put It In A Love Song - Alicia Keys ft. Beyonce

I first heard this song on the radio a few days ago while in the car with my sister, and we both were hoping against hope that it was a brand new single by Destiny's Child.. but unfortunately, it wasn't. I miss Destiny's Child. After the song ended and we found out it was by Alicia Keys ft. Beyonce, well, the excitement factor went down a little.. but truth be told, we love the song a whole lot!

So here's my Music Monday pick for this week -- Put In a Love Song by Alicia Keys ft. Beyonce.

Stay Another Day

My mom was here for the weekend, for a business convention that she was attending. So after it was over, she spent a night at my place (on Sunday) and just left this evening. It was wonderful having mom around and the kids were upset that she had to go back so soon. Although I know my mom couldn't want to leave the city of metal buildings a.k.a. Kuala Lumpur, I know that she didn't want to leave her little grandkiddies.. :( I wished she could have just stayed another day.. :(

But Hari Raya and school holidays are coming up soon, so I hope we'll be able to go back to our hometown for a week or so.. Definitely like Dinoza once said to me, we have the best of both worlds!

Oh and while it's still Monday, I'll leave you with this Music Monday pick... Stay Another Day by East 17.. Especially for you, Mom! :D

MM: Pose - Justin Timberlake ft. Snoop Dog

It's already an hour past midnight and I'm contemplating on whether to stay up for the match between Argentina vs. Mexico.. but I do know that I absolutely have to wake up early tomorrow morning to send my son to school.

Anyways, the 2010 FIFA World Cup has been all kinds of exciting and I just hope that I've still got some voice inside me left.. after screaming and shouting for the teams I support! Germany just ousted England for a place in the quarter finals and it was definitely an exciting match.

What I also love about the matches is seeing all the fans decked out in their world cup outfits! Here are some of my favorite photos of the fans so far!

Last but not least.. who can forget these two England fans!! Sorry boys..

Thanks for catching that one, Alex! I thought these guys were awesome too!

Shot Of The Day however, goes to Mr. Posh Spice a.k.a. David Beckham. The oh-so-dapper and broody former England captain acted as advisor to the England team and boy did he look Gooooooo-oooood!

Oh and with that, here's my Music Monday pick... POSE by Justin Timberlake ft. Snoop Dog..

MM: Angels Cry - Mariah Carey Ft. Ne-Yo

As you all know, last Sunday was Father's Day. Father's Day is always bittersweet for me, because I miss my father so much. He passed away a couple of days before Father's Day back in 2001. This year, my husband and I just stayed home and watched a movie with the children and that was it. No Branson vacation packages or anything like that.

So to all fathers out there, Happy Father's Day!!! (albeit belated)

Anyways, since I missed Music Monday, here's one of my recent fave song to listen to.. the lyrics has nothing to do with how I'm feeling and doesn't reflect my love life in any way.. I just simply love this song. :D Enjoy! Happy late MM!

MM: With Or Without You - U2

I haven't been participating in Music Monday for a while..  things have been just hectic around here. Despite not having the kids around for the past few days (their grandma took them for the holidays), I still feel that everything is a little hectic.

This past weekend, I had a blast just chillin' with my sister, and having a very belated birthday celebration. We had such a super fuuunn time just eating, shopping and having a "Brothers and Sisters" marathon that the weekend just flew by in a jiffy.

Right now, I'm actually packing and reviewing my flight itinerary and the terms for my guaranteed life insurance that I purchased with my flight ticket.. because tomorrow, I'll be joining my children at their grandma's (back to my hometown) and will be staying there for 10 days.

Yes, I will be dropping my blogging habits for 10 days, and just enjoy my time with my family back home. Although, come to think of it, I don't think that's entirely possible. Just like one of my fave songs from U2 says, I can't liiiiiiveee... With or Without You....

Enjoy! Happy Music Monday!

You Gotta Be

My birthday came and went without much hoo-haa.. I didn't receive any gifts for my birthday.. not that I was expecting anything much, anyways. It's not like I had a birthday wishlist or anything.

Anyways, it's been a week (more or less) since I turned 27 and I don't feel significantly older or wiser.. LOL! But I can tell you that I am more certain than ever about my future goals and dreams. I know what I want and I will do my darnedest to get what I want.

For now, I won't be sharing any of my plans with anyone yet.. as I don't want to jinx it. But what I will share is this song by Des'ree which sort of pumps me up for my future endeavors!

You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day

MM: Don't Stop The Music - Jamie Cullum

I have professed my love for piano playing time and time again. No, I don't play.. well not yet. I CAN play a couple of songs ever since I first dabbled in it last year but my piano lessons haven't started yet. I am not THAT ignorant to believe I have enough talent to be self-taught.

Anyways, for this Music Monday, I chose Jamie Cullum's remake of Rihanna's
"Don't Stop the Music" because I think the arrangement is genius. I love it and Jamie Cullum is awesome with the piano.

So hope you all enjoy it! Time to bid the Monday blues, adieu!
