Taylor of Old Bond Street

If you're looking for a gift for your man, you might want to try giving him a good set of toiletries. After all, who said bath and shower gels are only for women? Recently, I discovered a good and affordable brand of men's products that consists of colognes, soaps and a delightful array of scented shaving cream.

The brand, Taylor of Old Bond Street has been around for well over a century and has gained a reputation in British Society for their botanical extract for hair and scalp treatment.

So if you're out of ideas on what to get your man, this might just be a winner.

Wrinkle, Wrinkle Go Away!

With my daughter turning 3 only days away, I can't help but think of all those years that flew by with me barely noticing it! Just take this year for example.. It's end of October! Have you even attained ANY of your goals this year?

Well, you have 2 months left! I know I'm going to make the most of my last 2 months of 2010! Next year I will be officially in my late-20s and that's not sounding too good! My son will be in 1st grade and attending public school already!

It's high time I think about wrinkle treatment don'tcha think? I can already see laugh lines and wrinkles forming at the outer edges of my eyes!!!

HELP! What's the best wrinkle treatment? And come on, don't tell me you don't know!

Glowing like a Glo Worm!

My older sister and I have always joked about women who have that "glow" and accuse them of eating "light bulbs". LOL! It reminds us of my sister's old Glo Worm toy that she used to have as a kid! :)

Anyways, recently, she found out about a product that can "turn us into Glo Worms!" So naturally, I was excited, not because I wanted to glow in the dark, but because I've always wanted healthy, glowing skin.. like Malese Jow!!

The product in question was, The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost!

No, it's not used for acne treatments but it says here that it helps restore your skin's glow.

How it works:

  • Antioxidant vitamin C brightens skin, encourages collagen production, improves elasticity, and works along with skin-softening vitamin E to protect skin from environmental aggressors.
  • Community Trade sesame oil softens skin, restores suppleness and strengthens skin’s natural defense system.
  • Refreshing essential oils of grapefruit and orange help to balance and revive the senses

I didn't do a "before and after" picture, but I've been using it for almost a week and I can really see the difference in my skin. It's no longer dry or sallow looking and I look FRESH all the friggin' time! :) Goal achieved! It is pretty pricey (for me).. since it's RM85 for 30ml. However, it will last you a while because you don't need to apply much on your face.

Here's a review by a user that shows amazing results for her (WITH before and after pic). Beetrice's Review: Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost.

However, keep in mind that NOT everyone's skin is suited for this product. If you've been suffering from skin problems, consult with your dermatologist first before using it!

My 3-step Routine

So on my quest to get flawless skin like I mentioned before, I am now going through a strict regime of clease, tone and moisturize. I know, it's a no brainer.. but I am one super L-A-Z-Y baby.. So for me to actually go through this, is a major step for me.

Anyways, the cleanser I'm using now is a Gentle Deep Foaming Cleanser by Shaklee which my mom gave to me months ago but I never used. So far it's really good for my skin.. it doesn't make it dry and it's SUPERB for blackhead removal!

But since I've only been doing this routine for about 2 weeks, I am nowhere near close to my goal! However, if I do obtain the incredulous and fabulous flawless skin, make no mistake about it. You'll definitely read it here! LOL!

Flawless Skin, please!

All my life, I've been blessed with fairly good skin. By "fairly good skin", I mean, I don't have to deal with breakouts and acne and don't have to worry about adult acne treatments, but at the same time, I don't have the most flawless of skin. I still have to deal with dry skin and uneven skin tone and lately some pigmentation! *gasp* Nothing that some moisturizer and some 2-way cake powder can't fix.. however, I'm at my wits end trying to get my skin to look super flawless skin like Malese Jow.

Is that asking too much? *sniff sniff*

The Price of Beauty..

For those of you who don't follow my other blog, Never Enough Stuff, then you would probably have missed out on my article on the World's Most Expensive Beauty Products.

It's so amazing, really! I was dreaming last night about how rich I became, gelakguling , and it got me to thinking AGAIN, if I would buy a jar of wrinkle cream for €2000!!

Check out the article link above to check out the full list!

All Tuckered Out!

The other day, I went down to Eddie's which is this cafe that the kids, my sister and I always frequent to have some waffles. So Eddie, the proprietor, was mentioning to me how tired I look! And it wasn't just, "Oh you look a bit tired". It was "Wow.. you look tired!"

marah That's great! I think being called tired is neck and neck with being told I gained weight. Urgh.

I guess all my late nights are now taking its toll on my FACE. nangih Eww. But of course it's not only the late nights.. I practically neglected my skin regime ever since I came back from KK. I haven't even touched my face cream! But it's true, by the time I go to bed, I'm just too tuckered out to do the whole facial shebang.

Right now, I'm currently using the Nivea Oxygen Power Reviving Cream (both day and night) which Syura won for me on a giveaway by TiC. I've gotta say.. it's really pretty good.

However, to restore my face back to it's lustrous glow, gelakguling I think I need to go back to my favorite skin moisturizer ever.

The Biotherm Aquasource Non-Stop Gel. It really hydrates your face 24-hours and gives you that radiant glow. I don't know how well it work for you, but it works wonders for me! So just you wait, Eddie. That tired looking person will be zapped out of existence! sengihnampakgigi

Prevention Is Better Than Cure

A couple of years ago, I was browsing a cosmetic brand store and the salesperson introduced me to an anti-aging/anti-wrinkle cream for me. I was naturally offended, after all, I was only 20 at that time.. I was pretty sure I didn't look old. Being an immature brat, I just said no thanks, (curtly, I might add) and left the store.

Sorry lady, I know now that you knew what you were talking about... prevention is better than cure. One thing for sure is, once the wrinkles come out to play, it would even be more difficult to get rid of.

I have read some strivectin reviews, which is a great antidote for wrinkles, but it comes at the hefty price of RM295 for a 1.3oz tube..

Now that I am a few years shy of turning 30, I'm thinking I should just take better care of my skin.. I don't know how long my skin will keep those wrinkles at bay.

Mother and Daughter & Brothers and Sisters

One of the things I do with my mother during our mother and daughter bonding time, would be watching our favorite TV series.. she'll be catching up on the past seasons while I just accompany her up to the wee hours of the morning.

The most recent TV series that we watched this time around was Brother and Sisters!

We sooooo love that show because it makes us cry and we really really can relate to that family. Just like the Walkers, our father has passed away leaving my mom in charge of the household and take care of her 5 grown up children ihikhik. Although Brothers and Sisters has enormous amounts of drama compared to ours, but it's still hits close to home, sometimes.

Plus, Sally Field just looks super amazing at her age and I love how gracefully she's aged and how naturally beautiful she just is. You see, there's nothing wrong with wrinkles as you get older..

Nowadays, even young people like Heidi Montag and her million surgeries are sending the wrong message to the younger generation. She's only 23 years old! Instead of wasting thousands and thousands of dollars worried about wrinkles, she might as well just spend couple of hundreds just buying the best anti wrinkle cream on the market.

sighNo point stressing over that.. I might as well just continue enjoying Season 4 of Brothers and Sisters.

Homemade Acne Creams

I am quite blessed to have good, clear skin which I normally take for granted. But for the past month of living at home with my mom, she has practically drilled into my brain the importance of taking care of my skin. So I am definitely doing the whole cleanse, toner and moisturizer regime.. something that I have never really done (regularly) before.

I do get some occasional zits that pop up when "that time of the month" comes around but I read that you can concoct some really easy homemade acne creams that you can make.

Check any of these out:
  • camphor lotion--1/2 tsp , tomato juice--1/2 tsp , honey--1 tsp

  • Mix all the ingredients well and apply the paste on the face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash off with luke warm water followed by a cold water, rinse. Also good for removing scars caused by pimples.

  • Take an egg and crack it over the sink and let the white of the egg go into a bowl; use the white to dab on your pimple. Leave on overnight or for 20 minutes.

  • 1 tsp. Groundnut oil mixed with an equal amt. of lime juice may be applied daily to prevent formation of blackheads, pimples etc.

  • Get some rosewater in bowl. Add equal amount of cucumber paste on it. Stir it properly and have a pack of it for 20 minutes. It will also help in controlling acne.

  • The juice of one fresh lime + some boiled whole milk + a tsp. of glycerine is an excellent home remedy for pimples, blackheads and many skin disorders.
I haven't tried any yet because I haven't any reason to (at this moment) but when the time comes, there are a couple that I might just try out!

Cool Pimple Ad

I was browsing through some sites and saw this cool acne treatment ad by Clearex. They hooked up Israel's largest climbing centre with a "pimply-faced teenager". Apparently this climbing centre in Tel Aviv is exposed to approximately 8000 teenagers per month!! Way to go to get your point across, huh??

This reminds me of another ad which was along the same lines of this located in Jakarta. JAKPETZ, a pet emporium in Jakarta hired Perwanal Saatchi & Saatchi for this amazing ad promoting flea and tick spray.

Pretty awesome, huh? encem

I've got it...

... my very own Garnier Light moisturizer cream, that is... heehehehe.. Yeah! And I got it for RM15.88 too! LOL.. Guardian was having SALES again! Yippeee for me! Anyways, it's too soon to tell how good it is. I do agree with Syura that the first time you use it, it's pretty thick and a bit too much. But it's been an hour since I put it on and my skin is dewy!! Let's see how it is by next week. Or better yet, after 28 days, as it claims to change your skin by then. By the time I give birth to my little one, I'll be as radiant as ever! LOL! Thanks my dearest sis for recommending it to us!!

p/s: Mom bought the whole set! (she said that if it doesn't suit her, Seri can have it..) I only got the toner and moisturizer. FYI, the toner was RM13.90. And yeah, Garnier should give us free products for all this buzz!
